Read and think about Matthew 5:14-16. Where do you see darkness around you – in people’s lives, in their circumstances, in society? What would it mean to bring light to these places? How could you do it? Start praying for the situations.
On a larger sheet of paper draw out six boxes in two rows of three, with a gap inbetween. In the middle box of the top row write "ME".

Imagine each of the boxes represent the houses around yours (or you could do the desks/workspaces around yours). How well do you know the people you find yourself around? In the corresponding boxes write their name. Then write their job (if they’re neighbours) or where they live (if they’re colleagues). Now write some personal details (where they come from, their children’s names etc.) Finally can you describe their spiritual beliefs?

You’ll probably find that you can’t answer all the questions – but these are people around you and it is not an accident. Start to pray for them and look for opportunities to get to know them and be a blessing to them. Perhaps arrange an opportunity to get to meet them.
