What aspects of life today and in our own circumstances make it difficult to achieve a sense of identity?

How is Jesus able to help us with the identity issue?

Do you have a sense of God making us in the image of Jesus, using our interests, gifts, talents, abilities, for his purposes, his glory and the extension of his kingdom? How can we cooperate with this process?

Think of one area, one aspect of your life that you could ask for his help with and perhaps others to pray with you over this week.

When you take communion, how significant is the fact that you take it with other people? How can you think in a less individualistic and more community manner about communion?

Further reading and reflection: Worship in the context of relationships – Matthew 5:21-24, especially 23-24.

Bill Hybles said the local church is the hope of the world. It can seem surprising to us, but the writers of the New Testament were similarly taken with the church. Read Ephesians 3:10-11. Understand the context by reading Ephesians 2. How unified do you feel to other Christians? Do you hold judgements against other Christians, perhaps in different denominations? How can you understand them as being your family in Jesus?

How do you feel about conflict and difficulties in relationships? Do you have any broken relationships? What are you doing about it? What could (or should) you do?
